Causal Inference research at Spotify is advancing the state of the art in efficient and trustworthy decision-making. Machine learning systems generally learn from correlations present in data but understanding cause and effect is crucial for decision making in systems and to inform attribution and distribution of resources/investments. By researching, developing and applying causal inference methods we aim to overcome this limitation and learn cause and effect relations from observational data. Our causal tools yield actionable insights, and help take us from offline data to online business success.
